What We Believe

These statements of faith are our essential beliefs. They are a guide that helps us grow in our understanding of God, the Scriptures, the world, the church and ourselves. They provide a foundation for our daily living as Christ-followers.

About God

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. We understand God as the Trinity who has eternally existed as three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.

About Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary meaning He was God in human form, truly God and truly man. Jesus lived a sinless life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead, ascended to heaven and will return again someday to reign victorious.

About the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation to guide, instruct and empower for Godly living and service.

About the Bible

The entire Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Bible has authority over all human life, and leads us to a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

About Human Beings

People are created in the spiritual image of God for a loving relationship with God. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us have rebelled and are marred by sin which separates people from God and causes many problems in life.

About Salvation

Salvation is God’s free gift to us but we must receive it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith we renew our relationship with God.

About Eternity

People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence.
