Our Story
This is what got us here and where we're going.
In 1956 a new church was born on the south side of Lexington Kentucky. The name was Southland Evangelical Methodist Church. The next 52 years the church ministered to the south end of Lexington. Property was purchased at 2106 Clays Mill Road and in 1962 a building was built and dedicated. Bob Baldridge was the founding pastor and ministered to the church and community for over 52 years.
In July of 2008 Rev. Baldridge retired and in August of that same year Mike Currans was called to lead the church. The church began a new adventure one that focused on "Ministry Outside Our Walls". Within the first 18 months several major events have helped define our church family. First, our church family decided to change our name to Pathway Church and Ministry Center. Second, a small Home Church group called Bluegrass Christian Church join our church and we began to minister together. Third, a small start up church called New Direction Church decided to join our church and together we launched our "Saturday Nite Life" service.
Listed below you will find our Mission statement and our core values. Our desire is to be an authentic community of believers where church means family. We desire to love and accept everyone no matter their past or their struggles. We desire to be like Jesus when John said "He came filled with grace and truth." If you are looking for a place to worship and serve that is loving and accepting and desires to focus ministry outside our walls then this just might be the place for you.
Mission Statement
Providing a Pathway for:
Seeking Lost Hearts
Mending Broken Hearts
Strengthening Committed Hearts
Core Values:
Worship - Our desire is to experience God every time we come to worship
Transformed Lives - We believe that church is just a social club unless lives are being transformed in to followers of Jesus Christ
Life Groups - It is in Life Groups that real community happens, this is where we will be loved and we can show love
Ministry Outside Our Walls (M.O.W.) We gather to worship but our focus is to reach outside our walls and touch lost and hurting hearts
Everyone is a Minister – We see no difference between clergy and laity, we all have been called to minister to one another
Spiritual Disciplines (Habits) – The development of spiritual habits is a big focus of our church, it is in these habits that we grow in Christ
Mending Broken Hearts – Our focus is broken and lost people who are seeking healing and forgiveness and desire to belong
Church as Family - We believe Jesus left behind a church family to love and nurture one another, we are committed to that cause
